How to administrate permissions in SEOCMS?

This chapter explains how the permissions works in SEOCMS.
If you want to protect your site with a password - you can read about it here:

There are two ways of changing priviliges for users in SEOCMS.

First, you can set different roles for users. In this way the priviliges will be set automatically.
Secondly you can set permissions for each page using the groups and user-settings in SEOCMS.

Roles

There are three different roles that can be used in SEOCMS.
The roles have pre-set permissions which is built in to the system. .
The roles can also be set automaticly by using different permissions for different pages.

Adminitrator    Users given the administrator-role can to everything in SEOCMS. Administrators are automatically set to all six priviliges that can be used for each page.
Editor
Users given the editor-role can manage and edit everything except:
   * Administrate the SEOCMS-site through the "Admin"-button.
   * Upload files through "Uploaded files"-tab.

Editors are automatically assigned following priviliges:

Read       No
Create No
Edit No
Delete No
Publish No
Administrate    No
Visitor Users given the visitors-role are only able to visit the SEOCMS-site. They cannot log in and administrate. Visitors are given none av the six preset permissions.

Permissions for pages

Each page can be protected by six different permissions.
These permissions can be assigned to an individual user or a user-group.

This describes each permission and their functions.

Read Permission to read
Create Permission to create a new page or subpage

If there are subpages connected to the page you are trying to set permissions for the permissions will be inherited for each subpage.  Therefore it is a good idea to set the permissions in the root-page, so that the subpages inherit the same permissions that are set for the root-page.

Example:
Let's pretend we have created a new page.
Will assign "James" the permission to read this page.
There are also subpages connected to this page.
The permission for reading is now set for all subpages as well.

Please note that if a permission is inherited and you decide to change permissions for a subpage - the new permission will be set for that subpage only.
If you delete the newly set permission - the system will go back to the old, inherited, permission again.

If a permission is inherited to a page, you cannot change permissions for user-groups or users for that page.
In that case, you need to find the page where you first assigned the permissions.
